When I hired Nadia last spring, my Spanish skills were floundering in the purgatory of online language app learning. I had gotten my abilities to a solid basic level but was struggling to reach a conversational level. I was getting tired of telling people that I only spoke “un poquito de espanol.” Nadia has been an excellent and trusted teacher for the last year and a half. Her teaching style is very patient, kind, diligent, challenging (without being overwhelming), supportive and fun. She is very student oriented and has adapted to my specific needs with ease. Her lessons are so engaging that though you are conscious of the grammar point of the lesson and the progress you’re making towards mastering it, you assimilate it organically in the process of connecting with the content. It is a far cry from the droning, and nearly useless,  grammar drills of my high school language classes! However the biggest compliment I can give Nadia is that I’m now performing in ways that seemed unimaginable at the beginning of our sessions. For example, I can watch native content at full speed without subtitles and understand just about all of it with hardly any translation; whenever I talk with a native Spanish speaker almost without fail their first remark is how well I speak Spanish and how clear my accent is, and Spanish has made a home in my head;  it is truly my second language and I find myself even dreaming in Spanish. Because of Nadia I have shifted my goals to something that seemed unimaginable when we began. I not only think reaching a C1 level is possible on my trajectory but a near certainty now.
